Reiki

Reiki is an ancient Japanese 'hands on' healing system that means universal-'Rei' and energy-'Ki'. It is a relaxing therapy to help alleviate stress and anxiety, allowing us to accept the natural flow of life. Reiki still holds some mystery for many people, even though we all possess this amazing life force energy within us - it's what helps us breathe and therefore live our lives. Reiki is the same as 'chi' or 'prana' and this beautiful, gentle therapy is another way of clearing blockages in our energy field, revitalising our minds and bodies.

How Does Reiki Work?

Reiki works on every level of our being and is a holistic way of helping physical, mental and emotional ailments such as stress, insomnia, aches and pains, negative thought patterns and anxiety. A lack of harmony in the body can cause imbalance and eventually leads to illness. If life force energy is low, we are more likely to feel unwell or experience stress, if high we feel happy and light.

What to experience during a treatment

The Reiki session is carried out with the client lying on a couch fully clothed. I place my hands on (or off if preferred) key areas of the body starting at the head and working down to the feet. The energy will go to wherever it is needed in your body. You find yourself letting go and enter into a deeply meditative and relaxing state. The process releases any blockages or imbalances, negative thoughts or emotions in the body. As the chakras become balanced one can experience a state of wellbeing, security, wholeness and inner peace. In some cases suppressed emotions of old memories are evoked during a treatment which can be released so that you find a solution to remedy a problem.

Reiki really is a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. It is a deeply warm and relaxing experience where you may feel some heat from my hands or a tingling feeling, or possibly a coolness. The majority of people love the warmth as it is very comforting and the energy flows to exactly where it's needed in the body. Every treatment is unique. At the end of the treatment, the main feeling I hear people express is that they have inner peace and clarity of mind.  Reiki really is a simple way to 'get back to who you truly are'

The body is a natural healer when it is in good shape and well nurtured. Reiki assists this process.  Reiki cannot be looked at as a substitute for medical care in emergencies nor as a miracle cure for illnesses.

"It felt very reassuring having your hand and the heat on my body felt very natural. I had no real expectations but during the treatment I tried to stay awake and drifted a little at times but it was really lovely. Afterwards I felt similar to after a yoga nidra (deep relaxation the state you are in just before sleep). Relaxed. Peaceful. Focused. Complete clarity. Everything had slowed down and I could take in the real beauty of the trees/blue sky outside it was lovely to be able to see outside when I opened my eyes. When I got home I felt light, happy and had a feeling of  my muscles had melted down a gear if that makes sense!"  - feedback from a client

Bach Flower Remedies

A short history of the creator of the Bach flower remedies:

Dr Edward Bach (Sept 24th 1886 – Nov 27th 1936) was born in a village called Moseley near Birmingham, England.

Dr Bach was medically qualified and worked for over 20 years in London in Harley Street as a consultant and bacteriologist. After research into immunology, he developed an interest in homeopathy and complementary therapies. He developed remedies made from plants and left his Harley Street practice to work in Wales and study the healing power of plants in the English countryside.

He created the 38 Bach flower remedies, each aimed at a particular mental state or emotion. By treating the underlying feelings of his patients, their unhappiness and physical distress would be alleviated, as the natural healing power of their bodies was unblocked and allowed to work.
