Did you know that 75-90% of all doctor’s visits are due to stress related ailments?
There is a lot of stress around us in this day and age. Whilst some stress is helpful to get us out of bed in the morning and motivate us into action, in more challenging situations, it can trigger a lot of adrenaline and cortisol. These stress hormones raise our blood pressure and kickstarts the body’s natural ‘fight or flight’ reaction into motion, to help us deal with the situation in hand. So whether you’re late for a meeting because you are held up in a traffic jam, or you have pressure of deadlines at work, this reaction may lead to health problems, especially if the stressor is ongoing and there's no relief it all. The adrenal glands become over strained affecting mood, sleep patterns, and the body’s ability to fight illness, making us feel tired and burnt out all the time, even after a night's sleep.
Stress can affect the body’s ability to lose weight as high cortisol and the maintenance of high blood sugar levels make it very difficult to burn fat.
Other symptoms associated with stress are diabetes, immune system breakdown, alcohol and substance misuse, gastrointestinal disease, anxiety, depression, insomnia and many more.
Certain foods and drinks cause added stress as we may be tempted to use food, sugar and alcohol to help recover from stressful situations.
We can’t always get away from stress, however we can do a lot to help us cope better with stress and prevent us taking on all the problems that come our way.
I help you to develop your unique stress action plan, to improve your nutrition and adopt stress reducing techniques to help you in life situations that seem out of your control.
Stress Release programme
Consists of initial nutrition consultation of up to 75 minutes, followed by 2 appointments of 45 minutes spaced over 4-6 weeks. The programme is £340 and you may wish to carry out an adrenal stress test which assesses your current output of adrenal hormones and gives us recommendations for correction. (starts at £70)
I use BACH flowers and a reiki therapy session can be arranged during this period (additional cost of £75)
